Attributable Fraction Estimates for Malaria in Pregnant Women in Southwest Nigeria

Attributable Fraction Estimates for Malaria in Pregnant Women in Southwest Nigeria

Malaria in pregnancy remains a public health problem. It is beneficial to characterize the clinical presentation of malaria based on clinical complaints in pregnant women living in endemic areas and estimate the proportion of any sign/symptoms attributable to malaria which is important in the evaluation of the adequacy of case management. Hence, in this study, we characterized the clinical presentation of malaria based on complaints in pregnant women living in endemic areas and estimated the proportion of an episode of any sign/symptoms attributable to malaria (MAF) by modeling the relationship between quantitative P. falciparum parasitemia and clinical illness.
