Dr. Nettel-Aguirre’s research interest areas are statistical methods in the life sciences and in social network analysis. His research has focused on cell shape analysis and social networks modelling; lately he is looking into possible diagnostics for missing data patterns. He has collaborations with neonatologists and injury prevention researchers.

He received Professional Statistician designation from the Statistical Society of Canada in June 2007.
