Biography

Carmen Gebhard is a Teaching Fellow at the School of Politics and International Relations. She is also a Research Associate at the Institute for Peace Support and Conflict Management (IFK) at the National Defence Academy in Vienna (since 2004). Prior to joining the School, she has been a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna (2007-10) as part of the European Foreign and Security Studies Programme (EFSPS) part-funded by the Volkswagen Foundation. 2006-7 she was a Research Fellow in the European Decision-Making Unit at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht, and 2005-6, a Researcher at the Austrian Institute for European and Security Policy near Vienna. Carmen Gebhard has taught undergraduate and graduate modules at the Jean Monnet Centre of European Studies at the University of Gyor and at the University of Applied Sciences in Vienna. Carmen Gebhard holds an MA in Political Science (Vienna/Stockholm) and a PhD in Comparative Politics (Vienna/Maastricht). Since 2008 she has also been a doctoral candidate in Military Science/Security Studies at the Military Science Faculty of the Z.M. National Defence University in Budapest/National Defence Academy Vienna. She is expecting to complete her degree in October 2012.
