Biography

Dr. "Raj" Mukherjee obtained his undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He received his institution's highest undergraduate research award for his work on the role of calcineurin in status epilepticus.Dr. Mukherjee was also a Halsted surgical intern at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he received awards for clinical excellence as well as the Resident Golden Apple Teaching Award. Dr. Mukherjee's clinical research has focused on finding ways to improve brain tumor patient outcomes.Dr. Mukherjee has been a prolific scientific writer, publishing more than 15 manuscripts within the last year, including first-authored publications in British Medical Journal, Pediatrics, Archives of Surgery, and Neurosurgery, and he has written numerous book chapters on head trauma and brain tumors in leading textbooks, including Schmidek& Sweets Operative Neurosurgical Techniques, 6th edition. Dr. Mukherjee's work has been presented at national and international meetings, including the annual meetings for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and World Federation of Neurological Surgeons.

Research interest of Debraj Mukherjee includes brain, spine, and spinal cord tumors in adults and children; clinical trials; outcomes research; cost-effectiveness; disparities; and nanotechnology.
