Biography

Dr. Joseph J. West, Ph.D., serves as Vice President and Director of Operations at The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. Dr. West served as the Vice President of Global Operations & Training of The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. since December 2009. Dr. West was the co-founder of the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. Dr. West served as the Vice President of Operations at Spring Garden Grill and Bar and also served as the General Manager at the following restaurant units: Franklin's Off Friendly, Colony House/Wine Cellar Restaurants, and Colony Caterers. Dr. West has restaurant operating experience as an executive and operator. He serves as a Director of Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. Dr. West serves as the Dean of Florida International University's School of Hospitality and Tourism. Since 1999, he has been Dean of School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University.He served as Independent Director of Benihana Inc., since December 12, 2005. From 1991 to 1999, he served as Department Chairman of Hospitality Administration, College of Business at The Florida State University, and from 1993 to 1996, he served as Director of Hospitality Education Program, Department of Business and Professional Regulation, State of Florida and has held teaching positions at The Florida State University and the University of South Carolina. Dr. West is a retired U.S. Naval Officer.
