Biography

Dr. Mahdi Shkoukani, MD is an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Shkoukani received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine with high distinction. He then completed a general surgery internship and residency in Otolaryngology at Wayne State University. Following residency, he completed a craniomaxillofacial and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Shkoukani is the chief of craniofacial surgery at the department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Mahdi Shkoukani’s clinical interest is focused
at treating cranial/skull base pathology, congenital craniofacial anomalies, management of cutaneous malignancies as well
as the functional and reconstructive aspects of facial plastic surgery. Dr. Shkoukani is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology and has an interest in managing general ear, nose and throat issues as well. He has numerous publications in the field and has given lectures at local and national scientific meetings. He is the medical student Director in the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

Skull base tumors (open and minimally invasive), Craniofacial trauma, Congenital anomalies: cleft lip/palate, microtia repair, vascular lesions, velopharyngeal insufficiency, Cutaneous malignancies and reconstruction of Mohs defects, Functional and reconstructive rhinoplasty, Scar revision, Management of facial nerve paralysis, Nasal reconstruction, Ear reconstruction
