Biography

Dr. Sergey A. Ponomarenko received his Ph.D in Physics from University of Rochester, USA, in April 2002. Dr. Sergey holds a five-year diploma in physics from Novosibirsk State University, Russia in May 1994. Dr. Sergey is an Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair, Tier II, Dalhousie Univ. from July 2006. He holds many awards and honours like Canada Research Chair Award, NSERC of Canada, February 2006. Dr. Sergey funding sources include National Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and US Department of Energy.

Research Interest

Dr. Sergey Ponomarenko's research interests include: Nonlinear Effects in Nanophotonics, Optical Solitons, Similaritons and Vortices, Resonant Light-Matter Interactions in Gases and Quantum Dots, Ultrashort Pulse Propagation in Optical Fibers, Nonlinear Plasmonics and Nano-antennae, Optical Coherence and Statistical Optical Physics.
