Biography

S.Wamique Yusuf is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He obtained his medical degree from Dow Medical College, Karachi and pursued his Internal Medicine training in the United Kingdom, where his research included studies on the association of helicobacter pylori with fibrinogen level and coronary artery disease in elderly population and effect of spironolacatone on quality of life in patients with heart failure. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and a Fellow of American College of Cardiology.

Response: Well designed, double blind, placebo control trials, including all population.

2. Do you think that journals determine research trends?

Response: To some extent Yes.

3. What makes a good position paper?

Response: Something very clinical..

4. What are the qualities you look for in an article?

Response: Original research.well done.

5. Can you give us a broad indication of the types of themes a scientific journal should cover?

Response: There are few. Eg Connective tiisue disease and Heart, Cancer and Heart, Elderly patients with Heart disease.

6. How would you describe the journal’s mission and editorial objectives to our readers?

Response: Journal mission should be to promote both basic and clinical science.

7. Are there any particular areas which you would like to see, or expect to see, collaborate?

Response: Cancer and Heart Disease & Valvular heart disease.

8. How can a publisher ensure the authors/readers a rigorous peer review and quality control?

Response: Have good reviewers.

9. What do you see as the merits of journals, as opposed to book series, as a means of scholarly communications?

Response: Rapid online access. Indexed in pub med and other search engines.
