Daegan joined Forest Research in 2006, following a post-doctoral role at the Natural History Museum, London, where he studied the evolutionary ecology and phylogenetics of termites and cockroaches. He also completed his PhD on dung beetle evolution and an MSc at the museum, in association with Imperial College, and has worked in southern Africa, Central and South America, and Madagascar.
