University of Mary Washington

The University of Mary Washington is a public university in Virginia that focuses on undergraduate education in the liberal arts. The core of its main campus of 4,000 mostly residential students in Fredericksburg, Virginia is the College of Arts and Sciences, which offers degrees in disciplines such as psychology, political science, history, biology, chemistry, and art, and is enhanced by a College of Education and a College of Business, both of which also offer advanced degrees. The university also offers adult education and professional training to roughly 1,000 students at its satellite campuses in Stafford and Dahlgren.

UMW has two other campuses – one in Stafford, which caters to working professionals, and another in Dahlgren, which offers graduate science and engineering programs. There are three colleges – arts and sciences, business, and education – all of which produce graduates who are critical thinkers prepared to succeed. UMW also recently developed a Center for Economic Development, which connects faculty and students with regional initiatives and businesses seeking their assistance.

The University of Mary Washington is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
