Data reveled that there were four factors affected the Saudi tourism awareness: economics, activities program, information and media, entertainment and local, results also showed that there is relationships between awareness factors and socio-demographic characteristics.
Keywords: Sustainable, tourism awareness, Saudi

Introduction:
According to UNWTO (2013) tourism is a vital sector and it is creating an important stimulus for receiving countries. The tourism industry is one of the largest industries in the world, and despite recent events that have made its operating environment more complex, the industry continues to grow (Theobald, 2005). Both international tourist arrivals and international tourist receipts have seen a four percent growth in 2012 and have therefore reached US$ 1075 billion in receipt worldwide (UNWTO, 2012). In this regards, some developing countries have focused on international tourism to increase their share in global market. In general, the Middle East, East Asia and the Pacific, South Asia, and Africa are forecasted to record high growth in international tourism, at over 5 % per year compared to the worlds average of 4.1% (WTO, 2013). In many developing countries, tourism is considered one of the important sectors because its benefits to the countries. Based on UNWTO (2014) "International tourist arrivals in the Middle East are estimated to be up by 4% (in the first ten months of 2014), rebounding on the declines registered since 2011. All destinations in the region with data available report positive growth, with Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia all substantially improving their performance as compared to 2013. The tourism sector is Saudi's second largest industry after fuel. Saudi Commission of Tourism and Travel (2014) reported that the revenue of tourism sector to Saudi estimated about US $ 13.3 Billion.

This study also seeks to understand tourism awareness of Saudi citizens, in light of the issue that Saudi receives a proportionately high number of tourism movements from local community (Domestic tourism) or international tourists (Foreign tourism).
Saudi has many touristic sites but the country is faced with many problems to develop the tourism industry. For example, traveling patterns are mostly concentrated in a few primary destination zones. Hence, recognize tourism awareness for local community in the country can help tourism authorities design promotion campaigns to enhance tourism sector in the society

The significance of the study
The benefits of examining the factors affecting tourism awareness of Saudis are very significant for a successful planning, policy formulation and strategy development to promote sustainable tourism industry in the country. There are few studies investigated and measured factors affecting awareness of Saudis about tourism sector. Understanding the awareness of citizens will help destination managers design appropriate tourism practitioner in the country. The current study emphasizes and analyzes the community view of tourism awareness, with special concentration on perceived impact of tourism sector in the social, environmental and economical impacts of the country. This study also provides valuable information to decision makers who need to understand their perceptions on tourism products and services. Accordingly, the findings of the study help develop further tourism industry in Arabia and guide decision maker and decision taker to improve the sustainable tourism system in the country.

Sustainable Tourism
The adoption of sustainable practices has become widespread in tourism and has led to the proliferation of sustainability evaluation tools (Rosell & Makinen, 2013). There has been some discussion about the relationships between sustainable development and sustainable tourism (Johntson, 2014). Several studies have shown the impact of education and interpretation programs on attitudes and perception of tourism (Zeppel & Muloin, 2008). Breakey and Breakey (2015) assert that sustainable tourism aims to achieve a balance between the needs of tourists, the environment, local people, and business. Many researchers and practitioners discuss it from various methods. They concentrate on the third world countries such as Asia and South Africa. The results of this discussion indicate how development could be more sustainable (Dryzek, 2005). Sustainable tourism involves three dimensions: economic, environmental, and social ones (Bramwell, 2006). Orams (1997) asserts that education programs can create emotional affinity towards the species involved and attitudes about environmental issues.

Swarbrooke (1999, p. 13) defines sustainable tourism as tourism which is economically viable but does not destroy the resources on which the future tourism will depend, notably, the physical environment and the social fabric of the host community. In addition, Choi and Sirakaya (2005) conceders sustainable tourism as for tourism to be truly sustainable, it need to protect local and national culture, improve social and individual well-being, and conserve/preserve the surrounding environment.

Based on Cavus and Tanrisevdi (2003) found that the development process in tourism controlled by planners was the main factor in communitys negative attitude towards tourism. It means that, when residents perceive that the cost of tourism benefits, feelings resentment and irritation toward tourists can develop and lower community satisfaction (Ko & Stewart, 2002). While residents who have interest in tourism planning are more positive towards tourism (Cavus and Tanrisevdi, 2003).

Tourism Development and Awareness
The potential of tourism benefits are a major attraction for development of countries (Mill & Morrison, 1999). Tourism development always brings impacts on communities; these impacts can be disrobed positive or negative for destinations and communities (Mathieson & Wall, 1982). There are a lot of impacts of tourism on communities such as positive and negative impacts for many aspects such as economic, social, and environmental ones. Based on Saarinen (2010), there are many aspects come out form tourism, and a community perspective. The economic impacts for example, may be crucial income and employment opportunities for local people, but because of cultural and social differences between the tourists and community, there may be also negatively perceived sociocultural impacts. According to Mathieson & Wall (1982) the most important differences between community and guests involve values, habit, religious, customs, lifestyle, and behavioral differences. Although tourism may bring negative impacts on communities, planning, management, development, and successful policies improve these negative impacts (Hall, 2000).

Awareness defined as having knowledge of the existence of something. It is a term with wide-ranging meaning, indicating that somebody knows something either intellectually or intuitively or somebody has something in forefront of the mind (Pereira et al, 2012). Another definition of awareness by (Antimova et al, 2012; Kotler et al, 1996) awareness is a situation in which the person has become aware of the product, but still need some information about it.

Niekerk and Saayman (2013) studied the influence of tourism awareness on the travel pattern and career choice, the study found that there were influences of awareness of careers and travel patterns. Rattan et al. (2012) studied conversation awareness through volunteer tourism. The results indicated that spending more time at the national parks, awareness about volunteers increased tourism awareness. According to Reyes (2010) tourism markets tend to create leisure activities to obtain an opportunity sustainable destinations, planned tourism products and creating tourism awareness that will increase awareness on sustainable tourism. Saarinen (2010) acknowledged that making local community aware about tourism could help them become agents in tourism development. From South Africa experiments Failte Ireland (2008) stated that one-way of creating tourism awareness was to introduce tourism as a high school require subject especially with country has potential for tourism growth. The goal behind that was to familiarize students with the concept of tourism and to trigger interest in the study field. Mufeed and Gulzar (2014) studied the awareness about tourism in Saudia Arabia. The study focused on Saudi and non-Saudi . The results indicated that foreigners are more aware about local places than Saudi citizens. Attaallah and Ehewat (2014) investigated the elements affecting tourism awareness in Jordan. The study indicated that the role of educational institutions and their contribution to increasing awareness confined in a positive direction. In addition, the study found that there is a positive relationship between the work in tourism sector and its contribution to increasing awareness of tourism.

Methodology of the study
Questionnaire design
The study focuses on Saudi citizens awareness about tourism sector. The reasons for selecting this country are due to the importance of tourism sector in the country, also the scarcity of local people who involving work in this sector, and the majority of Saudi people avoid studying this major because, to them, it has low value among the society. Furthermore, in order to measure Saudi awareness, the current study utilizes tourism awareness information among Saudi and demographic variables are the core of the variables of this study. The questionnaire includes two parts. First, demographic variables such as gender, age, education level and living area. Second part, includes 20 items related to measurement of tourism awareness among Saudi citizens. A five point of Likert type scale was used to measure the tourism awareness among the respondents of the study which assigned value from 5 strongly agree to 1 being strongly disagree. To ensure the validity of the research tool, the researcher was conducted with pre-test pilot study. The main reason of pilot study is to ensure the questionnaires statement were clear and suitable for respondents to get full understanding and to obtain true information from the respondents. Accordingly, during pilot study test, there were some comments from respondents, which were adopted by specialists and experts to be more accurate and to formalize the research instrument. Thirty seven questionnaire were used and analyzed as pilot test, the result of reliability yielded 0.91 Moreover, The questionnaire was translated into two languages English and Arabic by professional professors to facilitate better understanding of the questionnaire.

Data collection procedures and Sample
The researcher used convenient sampling method to collect the data. Using a convenient sampling method is most common in tourism studies (e.g.Hsu et al., 2008, Xia et al., 2009; Naidoo et al., 2010; McDowall, 2010;Naidoo et al., 2011). Convenience sampling, sometimes also called accidental sampling or haphazard sampling , is the process by which a sample is obtained based on the condition of convenience (Hsu et al., 2008, p. 141). Furthermore, this technique is often conducted in location where intended respondents can be easily found, such as recreation areas, airports and tourist attractions, and at a time when potential respondents are willing to participate (Hsu et al., 2008, p. 141).In words of Neuman (2006), this technique is appropriate to select unique cases that are especially informative.

Saudi citizens who living in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are considered as potential respondents in this study. The data were analyzed after collected from respondents who aged above 18 years old or over. The female research assistant collect the data from females by visiting malls, parks, restaurants, and visiting some colleges and universities used several methods. The duration period of data collection 3 months started from March until May 2017. Moreover, the respondents were asked and given them abstract about the study before they participate in the survey, this mean that the respondents feel free to participate in the survey not compulsory. To avoid bias and be fairer with procedures, the research assistant visited the locations of data collection in different time and several days to be more reliable and to obtain different respondents in the visited areas of data collection. Total of 450 questionnaires were distributed, and 407 were returned, 389 questionnaires analyzed via SPSS. Total percentage of returned questionnaire was (0.82%).

Data Analysis
Demographic profile
Table 1 reports the respondents demographic characteristics. 78.2% of respondents were male, and 21.8% were female. Over 59% of them were between age groups 21 30 years old. Majority of the respondents in this study were single 87%. About 60% of them have education level Diploma and Bachelor. The highest percentage for respondents stays in Riyadh of 36%. Respondents were asked whether they had taken one course about tourism sector or not, the majority of respondents did not take any course with percentage 85.3%, and the remain 14.7% had taken one course about tourism sector in their study life. Regarding to supporting any person from respondents relative or friends to study tourism program, the results indicated that 37.1 of the respondents support their relatives or friends to study this major; whereas the majority of respondents do not encourage their relatives to join tourism associations for studying tourism program. (See table 1).

The Importance of Tourism Awareness
Table 2 presents the important of awareness of tourism from citizens perspective. Among the respondents awareness, they found that the tourism sector is economically important to your country, was the highest mean score (4.29), followed by Tourism has guide to increase entertainment tools in your country with mean score (4.24), Tourism sector is important for your country obtain mean (4.13), Tourism encourage to improve life quality in your country (4.06) and Tourism attracts a lot of tourists to your country yields mean score (3.95). However, the lowest five statements about awareness of tourism among Saudi citizens were I always heard about tourism news got mean score (2.82), followed by Saudi Tourism Commission strive to increase tourism awareness (2.72), I always read about tourism news, mean score (2.71), Tourism brochure are available in your area score (2.70) and Municipality presents tuition about tourism awareness mean yield (2.54). (See table 2).

Based on the results above, the respondents are aware of the importance of tourism sector to the country, but there are still many things to do from Government side to achieve sustainable tourism and publish tourism awareness among Saudi citizens. Toward privatization jobs in the country for Saudi citizens, the government should increase tourism projects, publish awareness, creating job opportunities and improve employee skills to get better standard efficiency in the tourism sector.

Factors grouping of tourism awareness
In order to identify the awareness dimension among Saudi citizens, principle component factor analysis was used to group the awareness factors items that are characteristically similar. The measure of Kaiser Mayer Olkin (KMO) was 0.856 and it has 57.01 total variance. One item was eliminated due to factor loadings of less than 0.4 or they loaded on several factors simultaneously. Nighteen awareness items were analyzed using Varimax Rotated procedures to identify the underlying dimensions that were associated with awareness. All items have an Eigen -value that is greater than one. All items are divided into four factors that aware Saudis about tourism in the country. These factors are Economic, Activities program, Information and Media, and environmental and local culture.

The awareness factors were categorized based on analysis and Saudi citizens perspective. These factors are important for tourism awareness of Saudi citizens, but the indicator for arranging the importance of these factors is based on Eigen - value from the highest to lowest. The first factors is economic which has ten awareness items such as The tourism sector is economically important to your country, The tourism sector provides a lot of job opportunity, and Tourism attracts a lot of tourists to your country (see table 2). This factor obtain (30.07) variance and (5.07) eigen-value. The second factor are Activities programs which has four items Municipality presents tuition about tourism awareness, Saudi Tourism Commission strive to increase tourism awareness, Tourism brochure are available in your area, and There are scarcity about tourism program through media. It has (14.94) of variance and (2.83) eigen-value. The third factor is Information and media it has three items, which are I always read about tourism news, I always heard about tourism news, and You have full knowledge about the tourism sites. This factor acquire (6.72) variance and (1.27) Eigen - value. The last one is environment and local culture which has two items that are I at least visit a destination once a year and You believe that culture of shame prevents citizens to work in tourism sector. The results of variance is (5.33) and obtain eigen-value (1.01).

Awareness factors and demographic factors
One of the objectives of this study was to identify whether there is any statistical significant between awareness factors with demographic profile of respondents. Tables 4 7 report the results of analysis of variance and independent sample t test. The results indicated female participants were more aware than male participants with three awareness factors (activities programs, information and media, entertainment and local). The results in table 5 report that respondents aged 20 or less, and 21 30 were highly interested to activities program factors, because they are concerned with tourism sector in their country. Table 6 presents the comparison of marital status of the respondents with awareness factors. It illustrates that respondents who are single and married are more interested with information and media factor. This is due to the nature of humans who like to cope up with updated information via media. The results in table 7 show that there is a significant differences between Diploma, Bachelor, and high study toward awareness factors such as activities programs because of the nature of their study and knowledge about tourism sector.

 Conclusion and implications
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting tourism awareness of Saudis. The study offers an attempt to investigate the main awareness factors that affect sustainable tourism among Saudis. It focuses on the conceptual framework of awareness factors, and economics of the sector. The study also confirms that Saudi citizens are strongly interested in tourism sector. They are aware of the importance of tourism sector in the developments of their country. In order to identify the motivational dimension, a principle component, and factor analysis was used to recognize the main factors that affect tourism awareness of Saudis. Twenty awareness statements were analyzed using Varimax Rotated procedures to identify the underlying dimensions that were associated with awareness. All items have an Eigen - value that is greater than one. All items were divided into four areas that affect tourism awareness of Saudi. These areas are economics, activities program, information media, and environmental and local.

In this study, sustainable tourism is significant in the country and it may be improved by promoting and evaluating the factors that influence tourism sustainable. The main finding of this study was the exploration the factors that affect sustainable tourism in Saudi Arabia and create the awareness among the local community to develop the tourism sector. From marketing perspective, in order to distinguish this sector from competitors within the region, the strategic planning and successful organization are helpful in increasing the efficiency of image from other competing events.

The knowledge about the importance of awareness factors that affect Saudi citizens about tourism sectors helps destination to meet the challenges that might face the country in the future. The dimension of tourism awareness to sustainable tourism should be applied from the decision makers to improve the level of tourism awareness among the community. In addition to these findings, understanding awareness factors of Arabia such as socio-demographic factors may help tourism practitioners design and guide tourism strategies in the country. The empirical results of this study provide tenable evidence that tourism sector in Saudi Arabia, because it is increasingly becoming important sectors for creating job opportunities and bringing foreign currency from open investment gates of tourism projects. Moreover, the research findings have identified the importance of tourism awareness of Saudis citizens. This should become the foundation for tourism authorities to design appropriate marketing programs and promotional campaigns to increase tourism awareness in the country such as designing tourism courses at Saudi universities focusing on the importance of tourism sector.
