Biography
Dr Papavasiliou graduated from the University of Athens Medical School.
She trained in Paediatrics at the Mount Zion Hospital and Medical Center in San Francisco, California; in Paediatric Neurology at the Children's Hospital of Michigan and in Neurology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
She did a fellowship in Neurophysiology and Neuropsychiatric Research at the Lafayette Clinic Neuropsychiatric Institute in Michigan.
Her previous posts have included faculty positions in the Department of Psychiatry of the Wayne State University in Michigan and the Department of Paediatrics of the University of Crete.
Since 1990 she is the Head of the Department of Paediatric Neurology in Pendeli Children's Hospital in Athens within the Hellenic National Health System.
She was founding member and past president of the Hellenic Paediatric Neurology Society.
She is a member of the Board of the Hellenic Sleep Research Society for many years.
She has published many papers in peer-reviewed Greek and international journals and has authored chapters in Greek and international books.
