Hans M Koot is an Emeritus Professor of developmental psychology and psychopathology in the Department of developmental psychology at The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The nederlands. He received his masters in psychology from Radboud University Nijmegen and Ph. D from Erasmus University Rotterdam. He held positions like the chair, director, dean in various departments of VU University Amsterdam. His area of expertise includes adolescent psychology, emotional and behavioral development, behavioral and emotional problems, psychopathology, delinquency, quality of life, intellectual disability. He is a member of many scientific societies and associations like Association of Child Psychology and Psychiatry ,Society for Research in Child Development, International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disability, Vereniging van Nederlandse Ontwikkelingspsychologen etc. He served the advisory boards of many scientific societies like Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences (NIHES), Netherlands Scientific Organisation - Medical Sciences (NWO), Care Research The Netherlands (ZonMW), Netherlands Institute for the Study of Criminality and Law Enforcement (NSCR), Scientific Board National Monitor Mental Health etc. He has authored about 270 National and International publications. He is associated with editorial boards of more than ten journals.
