Biography

Dr. James J England is a Professor and Virologist at the Caine Veterinary Teaching Center (CVTC) in Caldwell, Idaho. Dr. England’s teaching in clinical veterinary medicine, since 1995 at the CVTC, consists of beef cattle and small ruminate production medicine and management in rural Idaho. Dr. England coordinates the beef calving, feedlot, small ruminant and lambing blocks for the Washington-Idaho veterinary medical education program at the Caine Center. Dr. England also functions as Extension Veterinarian for the University of Idaho. He is a member of the NCBA cattle well-being committee, USAHA Committee on Infectious Diseases of Cattle, Bison and Lama and serves on the Idaho State Department of Agriculture Trichomonas Task Force and The Johne’s Advisory Committee. He is Co-chair of the AAVLD Virology Committee. Dr England’s areas of interest are infectious diseases of cattle, respiratory disease of nursing beef calves, control of Johne’s disease in beef cattle and the application of electronic identification for beef cattle operations. Outreach programs include beef cattle production medicine and management, herd health programs for beef cattle and small ruminant operations, laboratory diagnostics and biosecurity. He serves as the veterinarian of record for the Nancy M. Cummings Research Extension & Education Center (NMCREEC) in Salmon.

Research Interest

Dr. James J England's research interests are Infectious, Respiratory and Johne's Diseases in beef cattle.
