Biography

Fabio Bovenga received the laurea degree and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Bari (Italy), in 1997 and 2005, respectively. He was at the University of Bari until 2007 then, he joined the Italian Research Council where at present he is researcher at ISSIA institute in Bari.His main research interests concern advanced processing techniques for Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) imaging and SAR interferometry and, the application of multi-temporal / multi-frequencies analysis to ground monitoring. In particular he developed a SAR differential interferometric technique aimed at detecting targets on the ground that behave coherently in time so that it ispossible to measure their movement with a precision of few millimetres. The technique is devoted to the environmental monitoring and in particular to the slope instability detection and prevention.He is also involved in the exploitation of new generation of wide band SAR data (COSMO-SkyMed,TerraSAR-X). He had designed and developed the innovative algorithm of multichromatic analysis of SAR data which has been experimented with both COSMO-SkyMed and TerraSAR-X spotlight data for height retrieval, absolute ranging and vessel detection. He participated to many scientific projects founded by national ad international space agencies (ASI/ESA/NASA) as well as by the European Union and, he has co-authored more than 100 among journal papers and conference communications. Since 2002 he is lecturer on SAR / InSAR principles and techniques at the Master on "Spaceborne Remote Sensing" of Bari University.
