Jean Nduwamungu is having more than 23 years of experience in forestry and related fields. Since the 1990s he held several positions in which he dealt directly or indirectly with issues of forestry and GIS in Rwanda and in Tanzania. Currently, Nduwamungu teaching as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Agriculture of the National University of Rwanda. From 2008 to 2011, Nduwamungu served as Director of the Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Training and Research Centre of the National University of Rwanda (CGIS-NUR) while from 2006 to 2008, Nduwamungu was Director of the Land and Forestry Research Centre and the Forest management programme at the National Agricultural Research Institute (ISAR). After his PhD graduation in 2001, Nduwamungu taught at Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania) from 2002 to 2006, courses related to Forestry and GIS and Remote Sensing. During this period , Jean Nduwamungu also carried out research and many works related to forestry and applications of GIS and Remote Sensing.

Research Interest

Jean Nduwamungu research interest include Forest Inventory, Forest Management, Silviculture, Agroforestry Systems, Integrated Watershed Management, GIS mapping with ArcGIS (10), Image processing and analysis using Erdas Imagine (9.2), Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS).
