Dr. Kamel joined the Defence Studies Department (DSD) as a Lecturer in September 2013. He is currently writing a book which conducts a theoretical and empirical analysis of EU trade and conflict in Iraq and Iran, and is due to be published by Palgrave Macmillian in 2015. He holds a Ph.D. in Middle East and Mediterranean Studies from King's College London (2013), an M.Sc. in International Relations (2009), and a B.Sc. in Economics with Management Systems (2008). Dr. Kamel also has over two years combined experience of working as an analyst for an international economic consultancy organization and as a member of the steering committee for a nuclear policy focused NGO. Prior to joining the DSD, he taught modules on the B.A. in Economics course at the University of East London.

Research Interest

Dr. Kamel research interests include International Political Economy, Peace and Conflict Studies,Middle Eastern Studies,EU Foreign Policy,and US Foreign Policy.
