Biography

Dr. Sprong is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling at Northern Illinois University. He received his doctorate of philosophy in Rehabilitation from Southern Illinois University. Dr. Sprong's experiences involves providing vocational expert testimony for the office of disability adjudication and review, forensic rehabilitation consultation, substance abuse counseling to adolescents in a residential substance abuse facility, and program evaluation and vocational services to consumers with disabilities in a community-based rehabilitation program. He currently serves on the editorial board of The Vocational Evaluation and Work Adjustment Association Journal, the Journal of Addictive Behaviors, Therapy and Rehabilitation, and the Journal of Rehabilitation. He has authored or coauthored a number of book chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles in the areas of issues related to vocational rehabilitation service delivery, post-secondary accommodations, and substance abuse and disability. Dr. Sprong is a certified rehabilitation counselor, licensed clinical professional counselor, and certified alcohol and drug counselor.
