Biography

Dr. Mohan Vemuri is the Director of Research and Development for Cell Biology & Stem Cell Sciences at Life Technologies. Dr. Vemuri leads the stem cell product development program of different stem cell reagents in GMP environment for research use and subsequently for use in cell therapy with regulatory compliance. Dr. Vemuri earned his Ph.D. in the Cell Biology Program at the Sri Venkateswara University in India. He did his Postdoctoral training in National Institute for Neurological Diseases at NIH, Bethesda, MD. Subsequently he specialized in different areas of applied stem cell research on Parkinson’s disease at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He further developed research expertise in fetal transplantation of gene engineered hematopoietic stem cells for blood and bone marrow transplantation (BMT), for enhanced self‐renewal, engraftment and immune reconstitution at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, PA. His interests are in translating advances in the stem cell sciences towards focused development of novel tools and reagents for regenerative medicine and cell therapy in GMP conditions with regulatory compliance. Dr. Vemuri has been with Life Technologies since 2006 leading the R&D teams in stem cell based product development for human pluripotent stem cells and adult stem cells. Dr Vemuri collaborates with researchers in academia and industry, striving towards the successful utilization of stem cells in regenerative cell therapies. Dr. Vemuri has authored over 50 publications and has edited or co‐edited several stem cell focused books, including Stem Cell Assays, Regulatory Networks in Stem Cells, MSC assays and applications, MSCs and Cell Therapy, and most recently Neural Development and Stem Cells, by Springer Press. Dr Vemuri is also a member of several professional scientific societies and is on the editorial board of several peer reviewed international journals.

Research Interest

His research interests are in applied stem cell research on Parkinson’s disease,translating advances in the stem cell sciences towards focused development of novel tools and reagents for regenerative medicine and cell therapy in GMP conditions with regulatory compliance.
