Dr. Ritesh Tandon, Assistant Professor of Microbiology at University of Mississippi Medical Center, USA obtained his Ph.D degree in Veterinary clinical parasitology at University of Georgia in 2005. Dr. Ritesh Tandon was a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University (2006) and Emory University (2012).  Tandon has knowledge and background in the fields of molecular virology, structural virology, general microbiology and animal diseases.

Research Interest

Dr. Ritesh Tandon laboratory studies viral and cellular factors that are critical for human cytomegalovirus replication and also interested in exploring targets for small molecules/vaccines against human and animal viruses. The research in Tandon laboratory currently focuses on three different aspects of human cytomegalovirus (CMV) maturation:

  • Role of tegument proteins in maintaining capsid stability during virus maturation.
  • Mechanisms of virus trafficking in the cell and the role of host factors in virus maturation
  • Structural changes in virus capsids during maturation.
