Dr. An is currently a tenured professor in Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Central Florida. He received his B.S. and M.S. from Tsinghua University in 1986 and 1991, respectively; and Ph.D. from Lehigh University in 1996. Prior to joining UCF, he was post-doc at Cornell University and University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. An’s research focuses on advanced processing and manufacturing, nanomaterials and nanocomposites, polymer-derived ceramics, high-temperature sensors. He pioneered research in functional properties and sensor applications of polymer-derived ceramics. Dr. An’s research has been financially supported by NSF, DOE, DOD, NASA, Air Force, Florida State and private companies. He has authored/coauthored more than 170 SCI journal papers. Dr. An has received several awards including Wang Kuan-Cheng Foundation Professorship and Changjiang Endowed Chair Professorship. Dr. An served as an associate editor, member of editorial board, and reviewer for numerical journals in his fields.
