Biography

Dr. Al-Maghrebi earned her PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, and is now an associate professor in the Biochemistry department at the Faculty of Medicine, Kuwait University. She served as a consultant at the Vice President Office for Academic Affairs and the Director of the center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) at Kuwait University. Dr. Al-Maghrebi has been awarded several research and teaching awards during her professional career. She is the recipient of the “Best Young Researcher Award” from Kuwait University, “Best Teacher Award” from the Kuwait University Medical Student Association-Faculty of Medicine, “Negus Award for Excellence in Biochemistry” from the Medical College of Virginia, and a scholarship from Kuwait University for graduate studies. She is also an active member of many international societies, organizations and committees such as the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) and the European Association for Cancer Research (EACR). She is also a founding member of the Breast Cancer Awareness Team (BCAT) and the Kuwait Group for Peritoneal Surface Malignancy (KGPSM).

Research Interest

Dr. Al-Maghrebi research focuses on the regulation of gene expression in testicular torsion (TT) and the identification of molecular diagnostic markers for prostate and bladder cancers.
