About Anesthesiology

Anesthesiology refers to the branch of medicine that studies how to suppress the perception of pain and sensation in the brain. The scope of anesthesiology includes non-surgery-related pain management; management of painful syndromes; monitoring, restoring, and maintaining hemostasis; teaching CPR; evaluating and applying respiratory therapy

Professionals that practice anesthesia are called Anesthesiologists or anesthetists. Not all the physicians can become anesthetists as it requires training and necessary skills to complete this complicated job.

Anesthetists are expected to observe the ethical and legal conditions implied in this procedure. Due permission of the patient is necessary while administering anesthesia and they must be thoroughly informed about the consequences before administering this drug.
