Food Microbiology is the science which deals with the microorganisms involved in the spoilage, contamination, and preservation of food. Food microbiology the study of microorganisms, which have both beneficial and deleterious effects on the quality, and safety of raw and processed meat, poultry, and egg products. It focuses on the general biology of the microorganisms that are found in foods. Food Microbiology is the study of microorganisms both in food for and used in the production of food. For example: microorganism used for producing cheese, yoghurt etc. It is the science which deals with the microorganisms involved in the spoilage, contamination, and preservation of food. Food Microbiology is useful in food industry to detect food spoilage, fermentation process and production of single cell protein from a pro industrial waste. There are many factors affecting growth of microorganism in food. They are temperature, relative humidity, atmosphere, composition and pH, water availability, physical structure etc. With the help of food microbiology we are getting different types of products like beverages, dairy products, bread etc
