In vitro Conservation of Saussurea costus – An Endangered Medicinal Plant

In vitro tissue culture technique was employed using different explants on MS media for high frequency mass propagation of Saussurea costus. In vitro micropropagation was maximum in 2.0 mg-1 BAP in MS media. 1.0 mgl-1 NAA induced best rooting in MS half strength medium whereas IBA was less favourable for rooting. The rooted plantlets were successfully transferred to field.
