Altered Energy Transfer Among Phycobiliproteins of Cyanobacterium Synechococcus-6301 Under High Temperature Stress.

Altered Energy Transfer Among Phycobiliproteins of Cyanobacterium Synechococcus-6301 Under High Temperature Stress.

Decrease in phycocyanin absorption and fluorescence emission intensity is observed when intact phycobilisomes are exposed to high temperatures in the range 30-50oC in case of Synechococcus 6301. The shift in the peak position of both fluorescence and absorption spectra clearly indicates the structural alterations in pigment proteins interaction. Low temperature (77K) fluorescence emission spectra clearly demonstrate that the energy transfer from phycocyanin to allophycocyanin is main target for high temperature stress in the cyanobacterium Synechococcus 6301 and there by affects PS-II photochemistry..
