Features Morphology of Chromosomes and Pollen in Some species of Section Magnibracteolata Tod., their F1 Hybrids and Allopolyploids Drought Tolerant.

Present study is aimed to see the effect of chromosome morphology of the parent species of cotton on the morphology and viability of pollen in F1 hybrids and allopolyploids. The paper presents the ideograms of chromosomes of some species of the section Magnibracteolata Tod. including most of the drought-resistant tetraploid species in this subsection G. tomentosum. It also presents data of some morphological and biological (viability) indicators for the study of pollen collected from the species of section Magnibracteolata Tod., their hybrids in F1 and allopolyploids. Present study explores the possibilities of using wild plant species in the selection process on the basis of chromosomes, hybridization and polyploidy besides chromosomal mechanisms existing in nature and underlying the formation of species plants. Chromosomes of diversified cotton can be predicted and new chromosomes may be introduced which are more effective than the existing synthetic allopolyploids.
