Prof. Dr. Dr. Jan Ilhan Kizilhan is a psychologist, author and publisher, with research interests in psychotraumatology, sexual violation, trauma, terror and war, transcultural psychiatry, psychotherapy, clinical psychology and psychotherapy, migration research and socialization-war research. Professor Kizilhan studied psychology and sociology at the University of Bochum (Germany). He holds a Doctorate in psychology from the University of Konstanz (Germany) and Doctorate in New Iranian Science from the University Göttingen. Hier currently Dean at the Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychotraumatology at University of Duhok and Director of the Institute for Transcultural Health Science, State University Baden-Württemberg.

After the attack of the terrorist organization ISIS in 2014 and the systematic attempt to destroy the religious group of the Yazidi, the topic of transgenerational, collective and individual trauma has become a focus of attention in regard to this group. Since the Yazidi have been victims of 74 genocidal attempts for more than 800 years, the theory and discussion of group and Transgenerational Trauma models will be important for both research and long term treatment planning.
