Professor Mariwan Husni, completed his residency training in psychiatry at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) and following that he completed a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at the same university.He has been a fellow in psychiatry with The Royal College of Physicians, Canada since 1997. He became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK (MRCPsych) in 2001. He became a fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (FRCPsych) in 2009. He also holds a postgraduate certificate in cognitive analytic therapy. He also has the Federation Licensing Examination (FLEX), USA and the Licentiate of the Medical Council (LMCC), Canada

Recently with the changing landscape of the aging population and the increase in incidence of Alzheimer’s disease (AD), there has been marked interest to develop strategies to prevent, delay and modify AD. We review the diverse lines of evidence in support of the emerging role of cAMP-mediated Phosphodiesterase (PDE) signalling with respect to aging, inflammation and depression. In view of the link of PDE to Epigenetic complex, targeting PDE through designing modulators and inhibitors of PDE may represent a novel approach in AD therapeutics. We... view more»
