Dexmedetomidine Infusion Perioperative to Control Agitation in Non-intubated Young Patient with Cystic Fibrosis Undergoing Upper Arm Ultrasound Guided Totally Implantable Port-A-Cath Placement: A Case Report

Untreated anxiety can lead to difficult induction, increased postoperative pain, greater analgesic requirements, emergence agitation and even postoperative psychological effects and behavioral issue. The Dexmedetomidine [DMET] could be an effective sedative analgesic agent for analgesia peri-operative management in young patients anxious and agitated, with “difficult of ventilation and intubation”, undergoing brief and minimally invasive surgical procedures without the need of tracheal intubation.
