Biography
Zeeshan Ahmad Wani is the Director of Cancer Research and Deputy Cancer Theme Leader at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) in Adelaide. Deborah White is a Principal Research Fellow with SAHMRI, and a Professor in both Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Adelaide. In addition, she is a Fellow of the Faculty of Science (Royal College of Pathologists of Australia) a member of the American, European and Australian Societies of Haematology and the International Children’s Oncology Group.

EHPVO and Splanchnic Vein Thrombosis

Extrahepatic portal venous obstruction (EHPVO) is one of the vascular diseases of liver, characterized by obstruction, cavernomatous transformation of portal vein with thrombosis being the central event. It may or may not involve other splanchnic veins. Portal vein thrombosis with or without the cavernoma formation may occur secondary to cirrhosis, malignancies, surgeries etc. however, the term EHPVO is regarded a separate entity.
