Current research in Mobile computing
Mobile computing is interaction between human and computer in which a computer can be transported during normal usage. Mobile computing includes mobile communication, mobile hardware, and mobile software. Mobile communication includes networks as well as properties, protocols, data formats and technologies of communication. Mobile devices constitute the hardware. Mobile software aims to meet the requirements and characteristics of mobile applications. Mobile Computing can be explained in simple terms as “placing a computer and all necessary files and software out into the site". Mobile computing can be any type of computing which uses Internet or intranet. Communications links are served by WAN, LAN, WLAN etc. Mobile computing devices can be classified into three classes as Portable computers, Mobile phones, Wearable computers. Portable computers are compact, lightweight units which have a full character set keyboard and intended as hosts for software which can be used as laptops, notebooks, notepads, etc. Mobile phones containing a restricted key set which normally intended but not restricted for vocal communications as cell phones. Wearable computers which are mostly limited to functional keys and intended primarily as software agent’s incorporation. The existence of these three classes will last for long time. However there are limitations like Range & Bandwidth, Security standards, Power consumption, Transmission interferences, Potential health hazards.
