Causes of cardiac fibrosis

Cardiac fibrosis is caused by an accumulation of collagen fibers in the heart tissue. Collagen is a protein that provides structural support to the body's tissues. In the heart, collagen fibers help to maintain the shape and function of the heart muscles.
