This plenary talk will present advances in addiction science and our understanding of the brain circuitry that play major role in the initiation and development of addiction. The development of drug use around adolescence highlight the need for early intervention and primary prevention, before the disease of addiction is set. Medications approved to treat different addictions will be discussed as well as new therapeutic developments both pharmacological and immunological.
