Albanian language resembles one of the oldest surviving members of the Paleo-Balkan or Illyricum and oldest member of Indo- European family of languages. Certain characteristics of Albanian language such as phono symbolism, small words and the capability to form compound word or new lexeme, richness in sound (Albanian resembles 36 to 53 letters from the recent to older alphabets) makes interesting to study of how this languages brain processing is performed. Special word resembling phono symbolism and classified especially old from the most genuine Albanian Gheg dialect were defined, it would be compared with similar word in other languages using fMRI. A possible better speech processing of Albanian language mean less activity in fMRI particularly in the word resembling phono symbolism.

Biography

Genc Struga is a Consultant Neurologist and Stroke with good experience in cerebrovascular intensive care, neuro sonography transcranial vascular and carotid artery imaging. He has completed his PhD in Neuroscience and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Neurology at University College London. His interests are in research stroke, neuro ultrasound and neurolinguistics.
