Abstract
Preventing errors that cause accidents, impact on quality and reduce process reliability has long been an objective of many industries. In high risk industry (chemical, nuclear and even aviation), having a Human Factors (HF) program and employee training is regulated. Having this regulation in place is one of the reasons that chemical, nuclear and aviation accidents are few and far between other industries (for example Medical care, Pharmaceutical and Biopharmaceutical manufacturing) are now looking to take on this concept of having a HF program to help them improve on product quality, process reliability and safety. Based on years of experience in pharma, biopharma, aviation and a two year EU funded research project, human factors initiatives are now available to assist any company wishing to prevent errors that impact on quality, cause accidents and reduce process reliability.
