Abstract

Mansehra is situated in the core region of KPK Pakistan. Comprises luxurious mountains, valleys and also famous for lakes and its natural beauty and vegetation. Most of the land is covered with forests. About 70% flora of Pakistan occur in the mountains. Mostly these areas are enriched with dense Pine forestation and damp places with diverse ecological zones or habitats. The following areas were surveyed for hunting the macrofungi including Siren valley, Oghi, Kaghan, Bafa, Bajna, Dadar, Batal, Jaba, Sumb, Lassan, Khaki, Talasar, Attar shesha, Balakot,Shahty, Ichrian and Geerwal.More than 50 species were collected belonging to Agaricales, Basidiomycetes and studied for characterization and identification. The genera identified after sequencing (ITS4) were Bjerkandera, Tremetes, Shizophylmcommune, Agrocybe, Ganoderma, Heterobasidion, Flammulina, Inchnderma, Volvaria, Russula and Melanoleuca. The present study therefore plan to determine the prevalence, identification, classification (Molecular basis), phylogenetic and systematic of the species belonging to order Agaricals, including polypores and mushrooms. In this research diverse species were evaluated according to the morphological characteristics as well as the molecular (sequencing). Other observations like the soil analysis and PH were also done.

Biography

Nadia Jabeen is working as a lecturer on regular basis at Hazara University, Khyber Pakhtun Khawa (KPK) Pakistan, Mansehra since 2003. She completed her MPhil in 2003 from the Department of Plant Pathology (Mycology) Agricultural University Peshawer, Pakistan. Now she is a PhD scholar and keenly interested in collection and identification of mushrooms and polypores as many species are characterized as edible and medicinal, can be used against the diseases like cancer and AIDS etc. Further she is intended to conduct more researches on macrofungi and polypores. She is also the active member of her department conducting the mini researches, collections (insects, plants and macro and micro fungi. Also supervised 20-25 reviews of BS (Hons) on various topics.
