Abstract
Introduction: Amblyopia is a condition in which one or both the eyes has poor visual activity than expected with prescription lenses. Treatment of amblyopia has been relatively ignored in the adult population. The aim is to report a case of refractive amblyopia showed visual activity improvement in the amblyopic eye after a simple vision therapy Methods: It is a case of adult patient 21 years old with the refractive amblyopia due to anisometropia with far sight in the right eye ; the best visuel acuity was 1/10 with glasses. The patient was treated by patching of the non ambliopic eye for 2 month every day 24/24 hours. Result: A few weeks later he was able to see 5/10 (snellen); It was a significant improvement and he was happy. After, a refractive surgery has been proposed for him because he refused wearing glasses. The final visuel acuity was 7/10 after femtoLASIK surgery. Conclusion: The amblyopia in adults can be treated with simple patching of the non amblyopic eye ; This method seems effective but requiers motivation and compliance from the patient. Refractive surgery remains a therapeutic alternative for the patient who has a refractive amplyopia after improving of his visual activity.
