Biography

Dr. Anbesaw W. Selassie, DrPH, FACE is trained in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He is Associate Professor of Neuroepidemiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, Department of Public Health Sciences. Dr. Selassie is the Principal Investigator for a Population-based studies of Brain Trauma Outcome study and Spinal Cord Injury, Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders, and the statewide Central Nervous System Registry and Follow-up System. He has been directing the central nervous system injuries surveillance system since January 1992 with a special focus on disparate health outcomes after injury. He currently serves in the Professional Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of America, The Brain Injury Leadership Council, and member of the Prevention Committee of the SC Governor Developmental Disabilities Council. While his content expertise are in Central Nervous System Trauma and Epilepsy, his methods expertise are in study design, sampling, statistical approaches, and outcome research.

Research Interest

Dr. Anbesaw W. Selassie research includes Neuroepidemiology with emphasis on CNS Injuries and Epilepsy, nfectious Disease Epidemiology with emphasis on Mycobacterial Diseases and STDs, Methodological development in disease surveillance and outcome research.
