Eleftherios Tiakas grew up in Thessaloniki, Greece. He received a B.Sc. in Mathematics (1994), a B.Sc. in Computer Science - Informatics (2006) and a M.Sc. in Information Systems (2006) from the Departments of Mathematics and Informatics of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Eleftherios Tiakas also received a Ph.D. from the Department of Informatics of Aristotle University (2011). Currently, he is a post-doc researcher at the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He also works as a teacher of mathematics and informatics in the Model-Experimental Senior High School of the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece. His research interests include: Query Processing, Multidimensional Indexing and Databases, Spatial Databases, Information Retrieval, Similarity Search, Discrete Mathematics, Computational Geometry, Bio-Informatics. Eleftherios Tiakas is the author/co-author of 3 theses, 9 journal publications, 12 conference publications, 1 book chapter, and 3 technical reports. His articles have received over 120 citations from other scientific publications. He has participated in 6 funded European/Greek research projects and programs. Eleftherios Tiakas has supervised 2 theses, and he serves as a regular/external reviewer in several international journals and conferences (he completed over 70 reviews).
