About Ankylosing spondylitis
Ankylosing spondylitis is a typical joint inflammation disease affects spine. Symptoms include pain and stiffness in neck and lower back of spine. Ankylosing spondylitis affects 0.1% to .05% of the population. This disease is mostly observed men in their teens and 20’s. Presence of HLA-B27 gene increases the risk of developing Ankylosing spondylitis. Treatment for this disease includes Physical and occupational therapy, Exercise, Medications and sometimes through surgery. People with spondylitis are recommended to not smoke or chew tobacco products because nicotine aggravates the condition.
