About Cleft Lip and Palate

One of the most common birth defects are cleft lip and cleft palate. These are the openings or splits in the upper lip, the roof of the mouth/palate or both. The clefts usually results from the facial structures that are underdeveloped in an unborn baby and do not close completely.
