Pharmacological and Non- Pharmacological Therapies of Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia

Pharmacological and Non- Pharmacological Therapies of Catecholaminergic Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia

Polymorphic Ventricular Tachycardia (CPVT) is an inherited cardiac channelopathy characterized by exercise related ventricular tachycardia (VT) manifested as syncope and sudden death among young patients with structurally normal hearts. High dose Beta blocker is the mainstay therapy. Recently, flecainide was introduced to treat symptomatic CPVT patients despite beta blockers. Implantable cardioverter defibrillator is recommended for symptomatic patients if optimal medical treatment does not control ventricular arrhythmias. Left cardiac sympathetic denervation should be considered for intractable cases.
