Radiographic Assessment of Lumbosacral Angle Changes Undergoing Computer Navigated MIS-TLIF in Patients with Degenerative Spondylolisthesis

Purpose: To evaluate the role of computer navigation MIS-TLIF in lumbosacral degenerative spondylolisthesis patients in correcting and restoring sagittal balance. Methods: Lumbosacral angle in 40 degenerative spondylolisthesis patients who underwent L5/S1 or L4/5 computer navigated MISTLIF were studied by Ferguson’s method on lateral x-ray. Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and VAS (visual analog score) were evaluated pre-operatively and post-operatively follow-up time. Results: Lumbosacral angle of 40 patients who underwent computer navigated MIS-TLIF. Lumbosacral angle was improved to 34.8 ± 3.8 post-operatively as compare to pre-operative angle changes 47.9 ± 4.2.VAS pain severity reduced from 7.8 ± 1.7 at baseline to 3.2 ± 0.7. Mean ODI scores also reduced from 60 ± 15.1% at baseline to 23.2 ± 9.3% (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Computer navigated MIS-TLIF results in a significant restoration of lumbosacral angle thus maintain lumbar sagittal balance. The patients treated with this technique had improved in pain and disability.
