Study of the mechanical properties of Hemp Fibers treated with methanization technology

The objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of pretreating hemp fiber products using methanization technique. The digestate made using this technology, which is a representation of the processed hemp fibers, is the material that is being analyzed in this study. Research carried out in a lab setting in association with RITTMO Agroenvironnement in Colmar (France) indicates that the treatment, albeit taking a longer time (7–21 days), greatly improves the quality of hemp fibers meant for use in textiles. This specific treatment shows promise in removing non-cellulosic substances from the fibers, improving their appearance and decreasing their linear density. It was found that both the temperature and the treatment duration have an important impact regarding the In comparison to the other trials, the one that was carried out at 35°C for seven days was especially notable due to the quality of the processed fibers. Furthermore, the biogas generated throughout the process has potential uses in a number of areas, such as heating and more. As for the assessment of the properties of treated and untreated fibers, we have used the same approach as well as test methods of our previous work published in this journal [1].
