Dr. Akan Williams currently serves as Acting Director of Academic Planning Unit, Environmental Chemistry Research Group in Department of Chemistry at Covenant University, Nigeria.

Dr. Akan Williams' research interests include Organochlorine pesticide residues in water, sediment and biota; Assessment of polychlorinated biphenyls and persistent aromatic hydrocarbons in water, sediment, biota and food; Trace metal levels in environmental media and biota; Water pollution assessment and monitoring; Physicochemical properties of water and sediment; Studies on food contamination; Effects of used lubricating oil on properties of petroleum refined products; Studies on drilling fluids and production chemicals; Environmental management and toxicology.
