Biography

Dr. Athanasios K. Petridis is currently working as the director of the Section neurosurgical Oncology and as an attending Neurosurgeon at the Neurosurgery Department of the Wedau Kliniken, Duisburg, a teaching hospital of the University of Essen, Germany. He is also an associate professor and teaches at the University Hosapital at the University of Kiel, Germany. Dr Petridis received his Doctoral degree on Virology from the University of Cologne, Germany. Dr Petridis completed his medical school at the University of Cologne, Germany. He then worked at the Neurosurgical department in Kiel, Germany and from 2002-2005 at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, in New York City, U.S.A. He serves as Associate Professor at the University in Kiel. Dr. Petridis has authored several publications in various journals and books. His publications reflect his research interests in Stem cell regeneration, CNS tumor biology and vascular neurosurgery. Dr. Petridis is also the Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Neurological Disorders. Dr. Petridis is serving as a member or fellow in the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Society of Neurosciences, the New York Academy of Sciences, the German Neurosurgical Society and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is currently in charge of ongoing scholarly projects on clinical investigation in Neurooncology.
