Biography

He has worked for as research fellow for ten months at Department of Biotechnology, Dr. Y. S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan-173230, Himachal Pradesh, India. His research was based  on the antisense RNA mediated gene silencing of CAD gene in Himalayan poplar (Populus ciliata Wall.) in order to reduce the lignin biosynthesis in the Himalayan poplar for the betterment of paper production. Presently he is working on Agrobacterium- mediated genetic transformation studies were carried out in cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) in order to transfer insect resistance [cryIAa] gene. High frequency plant regeneration protocol has been standardized from hypocoyl, cotyledon, leaf and petiole explants. Genetic transformation studies were carried out with hypocotyl and petiole explants. Putative transformed plants were characterized through PCR, Southern hybridization, reverse transcriptase PCR, Real time PCR and Bioassay.
