Biography
Godfrey Tawodzera completed his PhD in Urban Food security from University of Cape Town. He is a post-doctoral researcher in Department of Environmental & Geographical Science University of Cape Town, South Africa under the Programme in Urban Food Security (PUFS) . Godfrey is also a trainer in the Urban Food Security Training Programme that is run by the African Food Security Urban Network (AFSUN) to capacitate local city authorities and NGOs in Southern Africa to respond effectively to challenges related to urban food insecurity.
Research Interest
Godfrey’s passion lies in researching on the emerging field of Urban Food Security, particularly on the following issues: Levels, patterns and causes of food insecurity in African cities, urban food distribution patterns, urban household survival strategies, rural-urban food linkages and their contribution to urban food security, medium and long-term food security local/national strategies and policies, the migration-urban food security nexus, the link between HIV/AIDS & urban food security as well as the food security status of migrant households in African cities. He also researches on international migration and the access migrants to health & education services.
