Biography

Dr. Abejuela graduated from the UCBerkeley completing two honors theses and receiving Highest Honors inboth her majors, Molecular and Cell Biology and Psychology. She worked as a medical writer and editor at Biomed before entering medical school at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA/Drew Program. During medical school, she did research, was chosen to tutor incoming first-year medical students, and completed herresearch thesis. After receiving her UCLA medical degree, she attended Harvard South Shore Psychiatry Residency Program. While at Harvard, she received thehighly prestigious American Psychiatric Association (APA) Child Fellowship Award, which included fully paid scholarships to attend APA Conferences, where she presented her research on psychopharmacology management for generalized anxiety disorder and chaired a pediatric psychopharmacology workshop. During residency, she also received the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Educational Outreach Program Award, had two first-author, peer-reviewed journal publications, and was chosen among a competitive nationwide pool of applicants to be the AACAP News Resident Editor for 2014-2016. After residency, she will begin her Child Fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Research Interest

Dr. Abejuela's research interests include psychopharmacology, particularly medication management for treatment-refractory patients, PTSD, infant psychiatry, maternal mental health, and psychotherapy.
